I am 28 years old and was born and raised in Lowell, Indiana. I grew up in a single parent household with two siblings. My mom worked often to keep our family stable. Which meant she had to rely on state and federal assistance to make ends meet. She balanced multiple jobs to make sure we had food, clothing, and a safe place to live. Growing up in that situation taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and community. I saw firsthand how families can struggle through no fault of their own and how crucial it is for government and society to provide help when it is needed.
I went to Lowell High School and graduated from Purdue Northwest. For the past five years, I have been teaching high school history and civics, and I am proud to be a member of the NEA and IEA teacher unions. I am also a father to a four year old, which gives me a personal perspective on the challenges families face today, from education to affordability.
I am running for Indiana State House District 11 to bring leadership that listens to the people and fights for working families. My experiences growing up and working in education have shown me how important it is to protect workers’ rights, strengthen public schools, make life more affordable, and ensure families have the support they need. I want to make sure Indiana works for everyone, not just the wealthy or powerful.
